Happy New Year's everyone!

Or rather, happy belated New Year's.

Although, what is a year but an arbitrary human construct with an imaginary beginning and end. Time is all relative. Who can truly say what constitutes a new year, or even what a year is? Sure, we may define it as a single and complete revolution around the Sun, but shouldn't that revolution be tailored specifically to each of our lives and be consistent with the moment we our cast in this world?

The point is, I procrastinate more than I should and I need to have a reason, besides lack of will and poor time-management, for explaining why I should take as long as I do to publish a simple post wishing everyone a new year. Thus, happy new year.

Each and every year, when the light first breaks on the dawn of its annual cycle, I record a series of resolutions aimed at improving each and every aspect of my life. These resolutions are followed through for about a week or so, at which time I invariably lose interest in self-improvement and slide back in to living my life the same as before. I proclaim that each year will be different than the last, but nothing ever truly changes.

This year, though, will be different. This year, I will be improved upon. And how can I be so sure? Because this year I will abandon the practice of resolutions and instead focus on establishing weekly and monthly goals by which my achievement of such goals will be awarded as I deem fit. In this way, I cannot fail. I can only succeed. At least, that is what I am going to tell myself. This post is case is point. I made a goal to publish a rambling and ineffective blogpost this week, and lo and behold! here one is.

Expect more such uninteresting musings in the weeks and months to come. This is a new year, after all. More than that, it is a Happy New Year!
